a gift grab. my grandniece pulled something similar like this on me. She invited my daughter to her wedding but didn't invite me. I'm retired and on a very limited income. My daughter has been quite successful in her life. We live well over a thousand miles from the rest of my family. I was never involved with my sisters kid or grandkids except maybe saw 2, 3 times in their lives so didn't even expect either of us to be invited to the wedding as my daughter had never met them that I recall. It was obviously a gift grab aimed at my daughter which wasn't acknowledged. It wouldn't have been so obvious if I had been invited.
