    Oh, brother. I understand both sides. I think both are wrong and could be handled by using Moms last name with a hyphenated Dads last name. Everyone wins and puts it to bed. Sounds like Step mom could use some boundaries, and Stepson could show some respect for it truly takes someone special to raise another's child with love. I have experienced both sides of this coin. No one could ever replace his biology mother, and having a name won't change a dam thing. It's his DNA and always will be.
