    Summer’s extreme heat is here.

We’ve seen the blow drier effect lately with higher winds in the Valley. The temperatures mixed with the dry wind is the hardest mix for plants to handle. They lose more water than the roots are able to take up.

Make sure you are watering deeply, to a depth of 2 feet or more for shrubs and trees, but don’t water again until the ground dries out. This time of year it is common for the plants to look wilted in the afternoon as they cannot keep up, but if they have been deeply watered, they should pop back up in the evenings.

Here is a video with more information on how to water deeply: https://youtu.be/VsdfE_kwQFQ?si=KOPJWmcAaW82kkl3 .
