The city of Peoria is hosting two more public hearings to get input from residents on affordable housing and community development needs for the next five years.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development requires the Five-Year Consolidated Plan to receive annual funding under the guidelines of a CDBG entitlement city. This information will assist the city in establishing strategies and goals for utilizing Community Development Block Grant and HOME Investment Partnerships Program funding to address these needs. It may also be used to direct other resources to benefit the community.

Residents are encouraged to attend these meetings in person or virtually:

    • Monday, July 8, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the Rio Vista Recreation Center, Riverside Room, 8866 W. Thunderbird Road (Virtually and In-person)

    • Tuesday, July 9, from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. at the Sunrise Mountain Library, Community Room, 21109 N. 98th Avenue (Virtually and In-person)

In addition to attending a public hearing, residents have until September 20 to provide input through this online community survey: https://www.research.net/r/Peoria-Community .

Written comments can also be mailed to:
    City of Peoria
    Neighborhood and Human Services
    Attn: CDBG Program
    9875 N. 85th Avenue
    Peoria, AZ 85345

The city of Peoria anticipates receiving approximately $900,000 of CDBG and $250,000 of HOME funds annually during the ConPlan period. These funds will be used to assist low and moderate-income residents.
