The Peoria Public Library system is taking submissions for the Peoria StoryWalks story writing contest.

Kids can submit original picture books to be featured in all three StoryWalks locations in Peoria. There are three age categories (6-8, 9-10, and 11-12) and submissions must be received by July 31.

For contest rules, submission guidelines and an application, visit https://peoria.polarislibrary.com/polaris/custom/storywalk.aspx .

Developed in 2007 by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, Vermont, in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library, StoryWalk is an innovative way for children to read and play outdoors at the same time. Typically, laminated pages from a children's book are attached to wooden stakes or metal stands and installed along an outdoor path. As individuals stroll down the trail, they are directed to the next page in the story and to do a related activity.

StoryWalks have been installed in 50 states and 13 countries.
