    Peoria Heights restaurant begins accepting cash again, updates branding

    Customers again have the option to pay with cash at Brienzo’s Pizza + Bar .

    In a statement, the Peoria Heights business said the change was made “in response to the feedback we have received.” The restaurant − located at 4450 N. Prospect Road − previously moved to cashless operations and applied a surcharge to checks.

    Now, customers will only incur the 3% surcharge on credit card transactions, according to the business’s statement.

    “This adjustment is aimed at providing greater flexibility and convenience for all our patrons,” Brienzo’s said in its statement.

    "We deeply appreciate your understanding and continued support. Our commitment remains to deliver the best dining experience for you, and we are always open to hearing your thoughts and suggestions.”

    The restaurant announced it was rebranding to Brienzo’s Pizza + Bar on July 24.

    Formerly Brienzo's Wood Fired Pizza, the business said it is “evolving to bring you more than just our delicious pizzas.” A second Peoria location – at 7713 N. Orange Prairie Road – will feature a full bar with wines, cocktails and other alcoholic drinks, according to the announcement.

    The post said the coming restaurant will be able to seat over 200 people. No expected opening date was announced.

    “We can't wait for you to join us at Brienzo's Pizza + Bar and experience all the new flavors and fun we have in store,” the business wrote. “Thank you for your continued support and for being a part of our journey."
