PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) — Welcome home, Peoria Chiefs.

Zach Levenson hit a solo homer in the sixth inning for the only run of the game in a 1-0 Chiefs win over West Michigan at Dozer Park. The Chiefs won their first game on a 14-day home stand following a two-week road trip.

Cooper Hjerpe, the St. Louis Cardinals 2022 first round draft pick, pitched four innings and matched a season-high seven strike outs. Winning pitcher Inohan Paniagua followed Hjerpe with four scoreless innings and Tanner Jacobson closed the game out in the ninth for his first save of the season.
