The Putt Club: Celebrity Golf | Peoria Friendship House Fundraiser | Good Day Central Illinois

PEORIA, Ill. (WYZZ) — Take on local “celebrities” in miniature golf during the upcoming Peoria Friendship House of Christian Service fundraiser.

The Putt Club: Celebrity Golf fundraiser is one of the biggest fundraisers this year for the Peoria Friendship House. They hope to show off East Peoria’s newly opened premium miniature golf facility while helping those in our community who need it most.

Raised funds will go towards programs at the Peoria Friendship House, such as after-school programs, summer camps, the food pantry, and more. The Director of Operations at the Friendship House, Chip Bates, says events like this help them give back to the community through the high and low seasons.

“Now that it’s the summertime, we have a lot more people coming into the pantry. So, we’ve stocked up, but at the same time it goes quickly.” Bates continues, “We need that as much as possible to try and keep everything going and get people food that needs it.”

The fundraiser will allow players to take on challenges against local “celebrities” around their 18-hole indoor and outdoor course. The game is modeled after traditional golf, but the miniature golf style helps keep the game to a shorter timeframe. This way, more people can participate. Participants will be provided with dinner, swag bags, and more.

The fundraiser will take place at 1001 Bass Pro Drive in East Peoria on Wednesday, June 19. Check-in begins at 6 p.m., then everything kicks off at 7 p.m.
