Local sports recap for June 28, 2024

PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) — It’s shaping up to be quite a final round for the OSF Children’s Hospital of Illinois championships on Saturday.

Two champions will be crowned at Metamora Fields in the professional golf tournaments being played there.

Cooper Musselman of Louisville fired a 7-under 64 in the third round and moved into the lead of the All Pro Tour stop in Metamora. Musselman sits at 21-under with Michigan’s Hunter Eichhorn and Gary Cohen of Phoenix tied for second, two strokes back.

Kailie Vongsaga shot a 5-under-66 in Friday’s third round to move into the lead in the Annika Tour event. The former Ohio State golfer is 10-under, one shot ahead of Jacqueline Lucena of Newman, Georgia.

In high school basketball, the Midwest Crossroads Showcase is being played at Normal West High School this week.
