    Peoria County deadly shooting victim identified

    UPDATE (9:01 p.m.) — Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood released the identity and cause of death of the man shot and killed early Tuesday morning in the city.

    According to a Facebook post from the coroner, 31-year-old Quinterius Evans from Peoria died of “multiple gunshot wounds throughout his body, suffered an immediate loss of his intravascular blood volume, and died instantly.”

    Evans was unresponsive when paramedics took him to OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center. He had no pulse and wasn’t breathing, police said.

    Evans was pronounced dead at 4:14 a.m. at the hospital.

    Police are conducting an ongoing investigation.


    PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — A man was found with apparent gunshot wounds early in Tuesday morning in Peoria.

    According to Peoria Police spokesperson Semone Roth, officers went to the 2500 block of West Garden Street just before 3:40 a.m. after two alerts from the ShotSpotter gunfire detection system indicated a total of 20 rounds had been fired.

    When they arrived, they found a 31-year-old man who had suffered several gunshot wounds, she said. Despite efforts to save him, the man died at the scene, she said.

    The name of the man and the manner of death will be released later by the Peoria County Coroner’s office.

    Currently, there have been no arrests publicly announced and there is no suspect information. The matter remains under investigation.
