The Peoria County Coroner's Office has identified the man who died in a shooting early Tuesday morning in Peoria.

Quinterius Evans, 31, of Peoria suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his body and died instantly after he was shot in the 2500 block of W. Garden Street, Coroner Jamie Harwood said.

Police responded to a report of 20 shots fired in South Peoria around 3:39 a.m. Tuesday. Upon arriving at the scene, officers located Evans lying in the road. They attempted life-saving measures but to no avail.

Harwood said Evans was transported to the OSF Saint Francis Medical Center but was unresponsive, not breathing, and had no pulse. He was declared dead at 4:14 a.m. at the hospital, Harwood said.

Those with information are asked to reach out to the Peoria Police Department at (309) 673-4521. Anonymous tips can be made at tip411 or by calling Crime Stoppers at (309) 673-9000.
