    Things to do this weekend: Music festival on the Peoria riverfront, events at Civic Center

    July is full of activities. Here are five events you might want to check out in the Peoria area this weekend.

    Rock the Races

    Peoria Motorcycle Club will host Rock the Races at 6:30 p.m. Friday, July 26, and 6:30 p.m. Saturday, July 27, at their racetrack, 605 S. Cameron Lane, Bartonville. Ace Frehley, with special guests Emperors & Angels and 2nd Chance, will perform on Friday and Jackyl, with special guests Plush and Elvis Monroe, will perform Saturday.     Whitney's Walk for Life

    Whitney's Walk For Life 2024 will be held Saturday, July 27, at Jubilee State Park in Brimfield. The event will feature both a 5K run and 5K walk. The run will start at 7:55 a.m. and the walk will begin at 8 a.m. Registration is $30 for adults and $15 for youth ages 12 and under.     Peoria runners: Renowned Peoria running store fueled by driven owner and his 'full tank of passion'

    Plant Based Peoria Expo 2024

    The second annual Plant-Based Peoria Expo, created by Riley's Vegan Sweets & Eats , will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, July 27, at the Peoria Civic Center. The event will feature food and retail vendors, service organizations and live music, along with speakers who will talk about the benefits of a plant-based diet. There will also be activities for the children. Admission is free.

    Fiesta en el Rio

    Fiesta en el Rio, a music festival that celebrates Hispanic and Latino culture, will be held from 4 to 11 p.m. Saturday, July 27, at CEFCU Center Stage on the Peoria riverfront. The event will include authentic Latin American food and drink, a children’s area, entertaining and upbeat bands, salsa dancing lessons and more.     Queen tribute concert

    Killer Queen will present their "A Tribute to Queen" show at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 28, at the Peoria Civic Center Theater. The concert will feature Patrick Myers as Freddie Mercury and will include hits from the band's entire history. Tickets start at $29.50 and can be purchased online at www.peoriaciviccenter.com .
