An Alabama State senator was injured Thursday afternoon in personal watercraft accident with his adult son, state police said Friday. Sen. Garlan E. Gudger Jr., 49, of Cullman, was injured Thursday when the 2024 Sea-Doo GTI personal watercraft (PWC) he was operating was struck in the rear by a 2019 Sea-Doo GTI PWC operated by Garlan E. Gudger III, 21, also of Cullman.

MAAAC Gala To Be Held August 10
The Makos Academics, Arts & Athletics Club (MAAAC), which supports Orange Beach students in their academic, artistic and athletic programs, will hold a fundraising gala on August 10 at the sponsoring Perdido Beach Resort in Orange Beach. The event will celebrate and raise money to support Orange Beach City Schools and MAAAC’s scholarship fund for the city’s high school seniors. Attendees can expect gourmet dining, a silent auction, music and exclusive experiences. Tickets are $50 for educators and city employees and $150 for others.
