Villager editorial section wins top award
The Auburn Villager took home the top award for its editorial page at last weekend's Alabama Press Association Convention in Orange Beach. At the APA Media Awards banquet on Saturday, The Villager won first place in Division D for Best Editorial Page or Section. The Villager's regular columnists and contributors include columnists Ralph Morris, Mary Dansak and Mary Adams Belk, and food columnist Jim Sikes. The editorial page also frequently features guest columns by Richard Penaskovic.
Alabama dive team explains drowning victim recovery, lake safety
ALEX CITY, Ala. (WBRC) - Even the most experienced divers in the state say they never get used to the feeling of recovering a drowning victim’s body. “You never get used to it,” said Jerry Sewell with the Alex City Fire Department Dive Team. “What I tell my guys is ‘What if it was your loved one? Wouldn’t you want to bring them home so they can have closure?’”
Woman searching for bystanders who saved daughter from burning home after gruesome attack
DICKSON, Tenn. (WSMV) - The family of the woman who was brutally attacked is looking for an Alabama duo who saved her from a house fire on Monday. Tessa Trotter is recovering at Vanderbilt University Medical Center after she was allegedly stabbed by her husband, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. Not only is 28-year-old Zachary Mowel accused of stabbing her, but the TBI says he also doused her with gasoline and set their home on fire.
