Update: Coastal flood advisory for Mobile and Baldwin counties until 1 a.m. Sunday
The National Weather Service issued an updated coastal flood advisory at 4:03 a.m. on Friday valid from 4 p.m. until Sunday 1 a.m. for Mobile and Baldwin counties. "Minor coastal flooding expected," explains the weather service. "Long period swell associated with distant Hurricane Beryl will arrive along area beaches late this afternoon into early this evening and will persist into the weekend. Conditions will become favorable for the development of dangerous rip currents. Those visiting area beaches should familiarize themselves with the beach flag system and follow lifeguard instructions. In addition to rip currents, there is potential for localized salt water flooding due to wave run up, especially over the more vulnerable spots along our Gulf front beaches, including the west end of Dauphin Island and around the Fort Pickens area."
