Georgia ranks high for solar power in the South
Georgia utilities earned high marks this year in an annual report on the state of solar power in the South. In its "Solar in the Southeast" report, the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy notes that Georgia Power ranks fourth out of 14 major regional electricity providers in a key measure: watts of solar electricity produced per customer, or W/C.
Howard speaks to the Wiregrass Chapter
The Wiregrass Chapter, Georgia Society Sons of the American Revolution, held its monthly meeting on Thursday night, July 11, at McKinney Pond’s Restaurant in Midville. With President Steve Burke presiding, they had 26 in attendance. President Steve called on Chaplain Emory Fennell to give the invocation, led the Pledge to the U.S. Flag and the Pledge to the Sons of the American Revolution. President Steve discussed what the Chapter had been involved in the past 30 days and also the upcoming events. President Steve then called on Registrar Dess Smith III to introduce the speaker for the evening. Dess introduced Veteran Laura Howard who presented her program on “Women’s Contribution to the Military and Country”. President Steve then called on Chaplain Emory to say the benediction and led the Sons of the American Revolution Recessional.
With reopened golf course on hold, Columbia County neighborhood proposes new private pool
A Columbia County golf community, with its 18-hole golf course closed, is pivoting toward transforming its pool area into its No. 1 amenity. The Jones Creek Homeowners Association in Evans is asking Columbia County to grant new buffer and setback standards when it demolishes and rebuilds a pool house that residents say has become too small and isn’t up to code.
