4th annual Pull for Kids Sporting Clays Tournament set for Saturday
This year's Pull For Kids tournament will benefit the three crucial programs of Child Advocacy Services, Southeast Georgia (CASSEGA). Combined, these programs support over 150 children and families who are involved in the foster care system in Bulloch, Screven, Jenkins, and Effingham counties, or those that are seeking assistance and classes from PCA Ogeechee. Durden Banking Company, Inc. recently presented five area high school seniors with a $1,000 scholarship. A scholarship recipient was named in each of the graduating classes of Jenkins County High School, Swainsboro High School, Metter High School, David Emanuel Academy and Emanuel County Institute. Each applicant was judged based on academic achievement, community involvement, and a written essay about the importance of community banking. Local recipients are Dhahami Salgado - Emanuel County Institute, Tisey Powell - Swainsboro High School and William David Martin - David Emanuel Academy. Mt. Olivet Baptist Church to hold VBS
Mt. Olivet Baptist Church near Garfield has planned Vacation Bible School for June 4-7 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. each night. Classes will include ages 0 – 19. The theme ‘Breaker Rock Beach, God’s Rock Solid Truth in a world of Shifting Sands’ will be reinforced throughout the week through Bible study, mission’s awareness, crafts, music and structured recreation time. Those attending will focus on the difference between God’s truth and plan for our lives versus the world’s, how everyone needs Jesus and should speak His truths in love. There will be a light meal each afternoon and a family celebration Friday afternoon.
