Commissioners OK Children Services levy, discuss plans for regional sewer district
The Lorain County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously Friday to place a 1.8-mill, five-year renewal levy for Lorain County Children Services on the November ballot. The board also discussed early plans for a regional sewer district including Lorain County and Vermilion, the so-called "6119 plan" after the Ohio Revised Code statute that allows for the creation of those districts.

Boil advisory in effect for Elyria residents through at least Saturday
ELYRIA — A boil advisory remains in effect for Elyria water customers. After a brief power outage early Thursday morning caused low water pressure and prompted a usage restriction for non-essential water use through Friday afternoon, Safety/Service Director Chris Pyanowski said the boil advisory will remain in effect until the city receives Environmental Protection Agency approval.

Young go-kart racer living life in the fast lane
For 11-year-old Brecksville resident Brady Lewandowski, checkered flags and finishing ahead of the pack has become a way of life. Lewandowski, who began go-kart racing at age 5, won his first championship in the 8-12 age group at Thompson Kart Raceway in 2021. He currently trains and competes in a 10-race series at Pitt Race Karting in Wampum, Pennsylvania, in the Junior Sportsman’s Class. He also competes in national go-kart racing events held at the track.
