PARKERSBURG — Downtown Parkersburg was full of opportunities for fun Saturday and Sunday. The Parkersburg Art Center (PAC) and the Blennerhassett Hotel and Spa both held events this weekend that offered attendees music, good food and more. The PAC held its annual Tastes and Tunes event and the Blennerhassett hosted its two-day Summer Bash at the Blenny event which featured Nashville recording artist Nick Walker, on Saturday and Sunday as well as live music, shopping, food, beverages and more.

Born and partially raised in Ansted, West Virginia, Jordan is the most published African American author in the state’s history. He founded the academy with the mission of developing and assisting youth with interests in the arts. Over the years, the academy has grown into a celebrated program, known for its dedication to African American arts and heritage. Norman’s legacy lives on through the academy, which has been a cornerstone of the community for decades, inspiring and nurturing young talent.

CAIRO — The West Virginia International Sports Jamboree, for mobility and visually impaired individuals, kicked off at North Bend State Park on Friday. “At the International Sports Jamboree for the physically challenged, a yearly event sponsored by the New Vision West Virginia Pioneers as well as AT&T Pioneers, young adults, teens and pre-teens who are visually impaired or physically impaired can participate in recreational events designed for them,” the event’s website said. “Basketball hoops ‘beep’ so they can toss free throws into nets they cannot see. Wheelchairs fly down 40-yard slalom courses.”
