Phillies ready to activate lefty reliever from restricted list
The Phillies bullpen is set to be reinforced as the calendar flips to September. Left-hander Jose Alvarado told reporters (including Matt Gelb of The Athletic) that he will be activated from the restricted list on Sunday. Alvarado noted that he returned to Venezuela to handle a family matter during his absence from the team. No corresponding moves will be necessary to activate Alvarado as the club’s 40-man roster currently stands at 39 and rosters will expand from 26 to 28 on Sunday.
Construction Complete at 2046-50 East Lehigh Avenue in East Kensington
Philadelphia YIMBY’s recent site visit has confirmed that construction work is complete at 2046-50 Lehigh Avenue in East Kensington. The building, located on the southwest side of the block between between Frankford Avenue and Amber Street, rises five stories and feature ground-floor commercial space as well as 21 residential units. Designed by Ambit Architecture, the structure spans 21,168 square feet and will feature parking for seven bicycles. Chester runs past and around West Philadelphia High
Tagged under: District 1, District 12, Gameday Hub, News, pfn. The Chester Clippers jumped out to an early lead and never looked back against West Philadelphia. The Clippers scored their first touchdown courtesy of senior RB Dayshon Jackson’s 2 yard rushing score to take an early 6-0 lead with 7:57 left in the opening quarter. West Philly had trouble early sustaining drives and moving the ball which lead to the defense being tired and Chester scored its second touchdown of the day on a Larry McDonald 13 yard rushing score to take a 13-0 lead with 4:41 left in the 2nd quarter. The score remained 13-0 at the half. Chester tacked on 3 2nd half scores highlighted by a shifty 5 yard rushing touchdown by Daron Harris. West got on the board with just over 5 minutes remaining when Sr RB Zahir Cleveland rushed for 47 yards on a drive setting up Xavier Howard to rush for the touchdown and Jr Mekhi Bryant got the 2 point conversion for the final 33-8 margin.
Easton receives $100,000 grant for public art projects
EASTON, Pa. — Easton has secured a multiyear $100,000 grant to fund public arts projects and activities in the city over the next four years. The funds, from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, are intended to go toward “reinforcing the city’s standing as a hub for creativity, culture, and community-driven revitalization,” the Greater Easton Development Partnership said.
Conservancy: Plan to Reef Ship Not Set Yet
The SS United States Conservancy has responded to a report on Get the Coast on the agreement to purchase and reef the historic ocean-liner. The U.S. District Court denied the Conservancy’s request for a three-month extension at the ship’s Philadelphia pier, ruling instead that we have until September 12 to present a formal agreement to the court to remove the ship from Pier 82.
Harrisburg wins city brawl in thrilling OT shootout
It was the game everybody was waiting to see for a long long time. Battle for the Burg, Battle for the city, you name it whatever you want, but today’s game started slow and turned into a battle for the ages. Like two heavyweight boxers, Harrisburg and Bishop McDevitt danced around and didn’t land many punches for the first 20 minutes of the game. But when they started throwing hard, the blows came fast and furious until, in the end, McDevitt just missed it’s last punch and the Cougars left Rocco Ortenzio Stadium with the City Game Trophy and a 35-33 overtime win.
