Saturday, the Perry County Public Library will hold its second annual remembrance of the flood of ’22. Amber Deaton is the library’s genealogist. She said the gathering is a chance to honor the people and places lost in the flood and see how far they’ve come as a community since then. Among the offerings will be a photo slide show.

“I've been collecting flood photos from the community, and I have about 150 of those, and that range from the day of the flood to the people coming in and helping during the flood. And it's going to be great to look back and see how far we've come.”

Deaton said the guest speaker will be a well-known storm chaser.

“Chris Hall, Y'all 606, Storm Chasing, is a storm chaser who is local here to Perry County. He goes all over the country, but he was here during the flood. He is going to be doing a little speech and sharing about his time during our flood here.”

The Perry library remembrance will take place from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
