    Retired teachers’ group offers scholarship

    2024-05-15

The Perry County Retired Teachers Association will award one scholarship for the academic year in the amount of $500. Applicants must have graduated from a Perry County High School and be a college junior or senior enrolled in a college of education at some point during the 2024-2025 academic year or be a current Perry County school teacher working on a master’s degree in education.

This award began in 1997 and rotates yearly to each Perry County school. If the school district in the order of rotation has no applicant who meets the guidelines in a particular year, the award opens to other school districts. This year graduates of Crooksville High School will be given first consideration. If no student application is accepted, a currently employed Crooksville High School teacher who is working on a master’s degree in the field of education will be considered.

Applications are available at all Perry County Libraries. Applications should be postmarked by June 1, 2024, and mailed to Mona Kiener, 130 Mill St., New Lexington, OH 43764. Please include: application form, your essay, and an official transcript.

The scholarship will be awarded at the PCRT’s June 25 noon meeting at Perry County Job and Family Services, 5250 state Route 37 E, New Lexington. Applications are also available from high school guidance counselors.

Contributions to this scholarship fund from retired teachers or other interested Perry County residents may be sent to PCRT: Kathy Young, 927 South Main St., New Lexington, Ohio 43764.
