Health needs assessment highlights mental health, income challenges
LOGAN — A community health needs assessment (CHNA) that looks at Hocking County along with Perry and Vinton identifies a number of significant issues, with one of the more prominent being that of mental health, and the shortage of local resources to address mental health and substance abuse problems.
Court receives subsidy grants from Department of Youth Services
NEW LEXINGTON — Perry County Probate/Juvenile Judge Luann Cooperrider has announced that her court has received additional funds from the Ohio Department of Youth Services. Judge Cooperrider has received an additional amount of $30,372.71 for a total of $309,986.26 paid to the Perry County Juvenile Court. The money is used to provide programs for youth and families in Perry County such as the Alpha School, counseling, U-Turn, Horse Power, drug and alcohol prevention programs and many other programs, all grant funded. Judge Cooperrider has received the funding each year as the department continues to support successful programs.
Commissioners open road material bids, hear splash pad concerns
NEW LEXINGTON — At the June 26 Perry County Board of Commissioners’ meeting, commissioners Dan Kinsel and Ben Carpenter addressed a handful of issues and opened bids for the purchase of materials for three county roads. Passenger dies in ATV rollover
CORNING — A 25-year-old Fairfield County man died on Saturday, June 1 in an apparent accident while riding as a passenger in a “side by side” off-road vehicle in the Tecumseh Trail ATV park in Corning.
