    Cobb 4-H Horse and Pony Club Compete at State Horse Show

    On June 4-8, Cobb County 4-H Horse and Pony Club had four club members compete in the riding division and six club members compete in the educational contests at the Georgia 4-H State Horse Show in Perry.

    4-H members from all over the state came to compete and the Cobb County competitors excelled.

    In the Senior Hunt Seat Division, Emma Bayer, riding Faramir, was named the Senior Hunt Seat Reserve Champion and Avery Henard placed third overall riding Hershey's Kiss. In the Junior Hunt Seat Division, Sonya Siefert placed third overall riding Calling for a Kiss. Bayer, Henard and Siefert will all three advanced to the 4-H Southern Regional Horse Show Championship in the Hunt Seat Division for their efforts.

    In the Cloverleaf Hunt Seat and Stock Seat Divisions, Victoria "Grey" Fernandez was named Overall Division Champion in both divisions. Bayer also placed first in the Western Dressage with Enrique. In English Dressage, Bayer placed first with My Banjo Serenade, Sonya Seifert placed third with Calling for a Kiss and Henard placed fourth with Hershey's Kiss.

    As a result, for her first place award, Bayer will advance to the 4-H Southern Regional Horse Show Championship in English Dressage in August. The Southern Regional 4-H Horse Championship is now through Aug. 4 at the Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry.

    In the educational contests, Bayer placed fifth in Senior essay and black/white photography and first overall in color photography. Together, Summer Burroughs-Thebault and Phebe Burroughs-Thebault placed first in Junior Team Demonstrations. As a Junior 4-H'er, Phebe individually placed second in drawing, second in painting and seventh in color photography. Summer placed first in drawing, third in painting and seventh in color photography among the Junior categories.

    Sarah Beth Hembree placed seventh in Junior color photography and second in black/white photography. Emmalea Thompson placed second in Cloverleaf drawing. Kyndall Dukes placed second in Cloverleaf painting.
