New Bibb County School District teachers are back in the classroom
BIBB COUNTY, Ga. — Dozens of Bibb County teachers will be new to the district — or new to teaching altogether. New teacher orientation began on Monday for both groups. "I will be in the classroom by myself which is nerve-wracking but I’m super excited about it," Kaylee Binford said.
Centerville Fire Department receives $47,000 grant
CENTERVILLE – The city of Centerville’s Public Service department received a $47,619.04 Assistance to Firefighters grant for new fire safety upgrades. The grant was awarded to the city by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security through the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The federal funds can be used for professional training, wellness and fitness programs, equipment, personal protective equipment and modifications to facilities, according to a press release from Senator Jon Ossoff’s office.
Macon family remembers grandson killed in downtown gas station shooting
MACON, Ga. — The Bibb County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal Saturday night shooting at the Marathon gas station on Napier Avenue. 23-year-old RaQuavian Smith was shot while leaving the store. His grandmother, Cathy Smith says he was turning his life around. "I couldn't believe it," Smith said.
