Cedar Point’s Top Thrill 2 will not reopen this year
TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - Cedar Point confirmed Friday its newest roller coaster, Top Thrill 2, will not be opening again this year. A statement from the amusement park said the manufacturer, Zamperla, will not be able to finish the necessary mechanical modifications to reopen this year. The ride shut down in May, the same month the amusement park reopened for the 2024 season.
Water-main break possibly affecting water service in Point Place
A portion of Ottawa River Road in Toledo’s Point Place neighborhood collapsed late Friday, causing a break in the water main below and possibly impacting water service in the area, city authorities said. City crews are assessing the full impact of the damage. Those without water service are asked to report it by calling Engage Toledo at 419-936-2020. Check later for updates.
'This is going backwards and not forwards': Toledo Zoo criticizes decision to mow native prairie; city responds
TOLEDO, Ohio — Native plants have decorated the median on the Anthony Wayne Trail for more than a decade, but last October the city decided to keep mowing them down. Ryan Walsh, the Toledo Zoo's director of plant conservation, said the zoo and the city had an agreement to mow after Oct. 31 of each year. But this year, it happened earlier.

Does the University of Toledo have a new-look roster? The 2023 starting quarterback and running back transferred. All five offensive linemen are gone. Cornerback Quinyon Mitchell was selected in the first round of the NFL draft. Senior leader Dallas Gant is on the Minnesota Vikings. But any team that has Tucker Gleason, Jacquez Stuart, Jerjuan Newton, Junior Vandeross, and Anthony Torres on offense isn’t going to be an underdog. And a defense equipped with Darius Alexander, Maxen Hook, Emmanuel McNeil-Warren, Dan Bolden, and D’Andre Ragin will be feared in every game. Toledo to host recycling event at Epworth United Methodist Church
