ADM’s Ellis Smith Makes Softball 2nd Team All Conference
A sophomore from the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Softball team secures a spot for all conference. Ellis Smith is another recipient on ADM to be apart of the 2nd Team All Conference for softball following a wonderful season. Smith played in 40 games during the 2024 season with 104 at-bats, scoring 23 runs off of 30 hits. She racked up 25 singles, four doubles, one triple, and 16 RBI’s, hitting an average of .288.
Three Tigers Round Out Roster for Class 3A Baseball All-District Team
Grant Rychnovsky (picture belongs to ADM Baseball) Three players from the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Baseball team complete the roster for the Class 3A All-District Team. Senior Grant Rychnovsky, Junior Grant Jansen, and Junior Jaxson Book all qualified for the all-district, part of the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association. Rychnovsky made first team as an outfielder and features players from seven other teams.
Wildcat Football Camp Less Than A Week Away
Although schools in the state are closed this week due to family week, West Central Valley Wildcat football players are getting much deserved rest while preparing themselves for the Wildcat football camp on Monday. Perry Parks & Rec Preparing for Debut Two-Week Summer Festival
Perry Parks and Recreation is ramping up for an inaugural event, starting next week. The organization states that the first two-week summer festival is set to happen from August 5th-16th. According to Perry Parks & Rec, several activities will be taking place including trips to the park, activities in the gym, and swimming in the pool. The time of the festival will be from 7am to 5pm with breakfast, lunch and a snack being served, but parents are welcome to pack pre-made meals for children.
Dallas Center Family Apart of Seven to Receive 2024 Way We Live Award
Photo belongs to the Brewer Family in Dallas Center, IA. A family from the Dallas Center area joins six others as recipients of a special award. The Iowa State Fair has selected Brewer Farms out of Dallas Center as a representative for the 2024 Way We Live Award. According to the State Fair Association, this is the 16th year the award has been given out, recognizing 89 Iowa families. Brewer Farms has been in operation since 1875, serving Dallas Center with 125 cow/calf pairs. The fair association claims that family members are involved with the Dallas County Fair on some level each year.
West Central Valley Kindergarten Roundup Next Week
The West Central Valley School District will be holding an event for some of their students at the Stuart Elementary building. The Kindergarten Round-Up will be from 9-10am next Tuesday, and is for incoming kindergarten students and their families for the 2024-25 school year. The students will be able to meet the teachers and take a look around the school, and parents will receive the necessary information they need for the coming year. Elementary Principal Amanda Sickles is excited to meet the families and students.
