Heavy Rain and Strong Winds Hit Raccoon Valley Radio Listening Area
Raccoon Valley Radio’s Severe Weather Action Team became active Wednesday evening. Severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for Guthrie and Greene Counties at 6:27pm, and Dallas County was added at 7:31pm when Greene and Guthrie Counties were extended to 8:15pm. Around 7:40pm, Stuart began experiencing strong winds that caused minimal tree damage and heavy rains, and at 7:54, southeastern Guthrie County had its severe thunderstorm warning extended to 8:45pm. Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams reported 30-40 mph winds in the Cooper area, and 10 mph winds and slight rain in Rippey. At 8pm, torrential rains began in Perry, along with 40+ mph winds.

ADM Boys Cross Country Anticipating 2024 Fall Season
The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Boys Cross Country team begins the 2024 fall season with the first meet at the end of the month. The calendar has flipped to the month of August, meaning that fall sports are on the horizon. The Tigers are hoping to replicate the great season from last year. ADM’s Cameran Smith Named to Softball 1st Team All-Conference
A senior from the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Softball team is being honored to 1st Team All-Conference. The Tigers’ Cameran Smith played her final game in an ADM uniform on July 25th in the Class 4A Championship, where she scored one run in the game. Smith appeared in 40 games during the 2024 season, leading the team with 134 at-bats, scoring 27 runs off 42 hits.
