INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis woman delivering for Door Dash food delivery service was held at gunpoint with her child in the car this week on the city's southeast side. NOBLESVILLE, Ind. — Another central Indiana community has received approval for an outdoor refreshment area. The City of Noblesville announced Thursday, July 25 that the Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission had approved its ordinance to establish a Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA) in downtown Noblesville, which it says will be the first in Hamilton County.

A Hamilton County nonprofit that focuses on housing needs for low- to moderate-income residents is making another small dent in the county’s big lack of affordable housing. HAND, Inc., which stands for Hamilton County Area Neighborhood Development, is almost ready to open Cumberland Cottages, its newest housing development at the corner of Cumberland Road and 141st Street in Fishers, with an open house set for Aug. 1.
E-scooters more popular despite City’s push to promote e-bikes
Despite adding e-bikes around town to promote micro-mobility and provide another option for transportation, e-scooters still appear to be the more popular choice. Jeffrey Jackson, transportation demand manager for the City of Bloomington, said data from Bird showed that only 7 percent of trips taken in Bloomington are from their e-bikes. The City’s licensing agreement with Bird, Lime and Veo was updated last year to require that 25 percent of their fleet consist of e-bikes. Data from Lime will become available in September, but Jackson said it has been difficult to get hard data from these companies.

New Wild Eggs restaurant opens in Avon
AVON, Ind. — A new restaurant is open in Avon. Wild Eggs, a contemporary breakfast, brunch and lunch restaurant chain, has opened its new location at 9769 E. U.S. 36. The location previously served as the site of a Jack in the Box, which closed in 2017. The Jack in the Box building was razed and a new multi-unit commercial space was built in its place. Wild Eggs will occupy the space previously held by a Denny's that closed in 2023.
