    Boys' Regionals: Peshtigo, Crivitz, Gillett and Niagara all suffer playoff losses

    Area boys basketball teams wrapped up the Regional round of the WIAA playoffs over the weekend.

    Who took home Regional titles and who had their season come to a halt? Read ahead to find out.

    Division 3

    No. 2 Southern Door 74, No. 7 Peshtigo 47BRUSSELS, Wis. — Five double-digit scorers helped the Southern Door boys basketball team sink Peshtigo 74-47 in the semifinals of the WIAA Division 3 Regional playoffs on Friday.

    Drew Daoust led the way with 16 points while Caden Pierre and Tyler Neinas both poured in 14 for the Eagles. James Fish collected 12 and Matthew Malvitz had 10.

    Peshtigo struggled to shoot consistently on Friday, knocking down just 26 percent of its shots (15-of-57).

    Canon Bickel was the Bulldogs leading scorer with 12 points. Dominik Baxter added 11 and Will McMahon chipped in 10.

    Peshtigo finishes the season at 13-13 overall.

    Southern Door (22-4) claimed the Division 3 Regional crown after edging Clintonville 54-49 on Saturday.

    Division 4

    No. 1 Bonduel 82, No. 4 Crivitz 40BONDUEL, Wis. — Scintillating long-range shooting propelled Bonduel past Crivitz for the Division 4 Regional championship on Saturday.

    The Bears (25-1) drilled 11 3-pointers in the first half alone to put the Wolverines in a deep 32-point hole at halftime.

    Jackson Flowers was Crivitz’s top scorer with 13 points. Kade Thoma pitched in 12, Tegan Werner tallied eight, Kaden Klaver added three, and Colten Tarmann and Pierce Polomis each finished with two.

    Noah Weier finished with a game-high 26 points for Bonduel.

    Crivitz wraps up the season with an overall record of 19-7.

    Bonduel will square off with No. 6 Oconto (18-9) in the Division 4 Sectional semifinals on Thursday.

    Division 5

    No. 5 Florence 68, No. 4 Niagara 55NIAGARA — Tommy Martin’s team-high 30 points wasn’t enough to lift the Niagara boys basketball team past Florence in Friday’s Division 5 Regional semifinal, as the Bobcats bested the Badgers 68-55.

    Dustin Williams led Florence with a game-high 33 points but it was William Kelley’s 22-point outburst that helped the Bobcats upset the Badgers, as Kelley nearly outscored the rest of Niagara (25 points) by himself.

    Blake Holmes was the Badgers’ second-leading scorer with six points. Alex Tripp, Gavin Neuens and Cameron Schiefelbein all finished with five.

    Niagara ends the 2023-24 season with an overall record of 17-9.

    Florence (16-10) lost the Division 5 Regional title game to No. 1 Reedsville 88-58 on Saturday.
