    Peshtigo begins track and field season at Ripon Invitational

    RIPON, Wis. — The Peshtigo track and field team kicked off the 2024 season at the Ripon College Invitational on Tuesday.

    The Bulldog boys finished tied with Kimberly for eighth place with 21 points, while the Peshtigo girls placed ninth overall after collecting 20.5 points.

    De Pere edged Green Bay Preble 116-114 to capture first place in the boys’ competition. Slinger and Kaukauna tied for third with 48 points each.

    Matters were even closer on the girls’ side, as Neenah nipped Pulaski by a half-point, 76.5-76, to take home first place. Kaukauna (59) was third.

    Ethan Brissette began his senior year with a second-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles (8.58 seconds) and a third-place finish in the pole vault (12 ’6).

    Tristan Krejcarek, a junior, notched a pair of top-10 finishes on Tuesday, finishing sixth in the 200-meter dash (24.15) and fifth in the long jump (19 ‘5).

    Fellow junior Dante Sechen was ninth overall in the high jump with a leap of 5’10.

    Sophomore Rachel Nelson tallied Peshtigo’s best finish in the girls’ competition after finishing the 1,600-meter run in 5:31.34, good for fourth overall.

    Nelson also participated in the 800-meter run and placed seventh with a time of 2:32.72.

    Seven was Alaina Archambault’s number at Ripon, as the junior placed seventh in the 60-meter dash (8.39), the 200-meter dash (28.91) and the triple jump (31 ‘8.5).

    Senior Christina Powers picked up a sixth-place finish in the shot put after recording a throw of 35 ‘7.25, while sophomore Athena Powers was tenth after a heave of 33’ 5.

    Riley Sabel, another senior, collected sixth place in the pole vault with a height of 7’0.

    Sophomore Jaycee Mullins was sixth in the long jump after leaping a distance of 15’3.

    Peshtigo: The Bulldogs were at West De Pere on Thursday, with results pending at press time. Peshtigo is back in action April 2 at home beginning at 4:30 p.m.
