Hollis is SAFE! After all of the pieces coming together we finally got this sweet boy safely into our hands just before noon today. We saw the vet and unfortunately he has a pretty gross upper respiratory infection so only the basics could be done today. A full blood panel has been sent out, we should have the results from that tomorrow. We opted for a strong antibiotic injection rather than oral for a couple reasons, 1 so he doesn't have to swallow them and 2 is stronger and seems to work better on done of the URI's going around done if the shelters. We'll be monitoring it closely. We've also started pain management. We weren't able to get a good look in his mouth. When he feeling better we'll be able to sedate him to get a good look at what we're working with and what changes there may be from the shelter's findings. He's covered in fleas, flea dirt and matted fur. He's been given capstar and started flea prevention. Where there are fleas there are intestinal parasites so he's also been given his first treatment for that. While the URI is holding some things up we've still been able to start others, including falling in love with him. Hollis is incredibly sweet and gentle. We're honored to have the privilege of caring for him. He's tucked into his foster home to stay decompressing and learning that all he has to do now is relax. Those look like sweet smiles in his pictures but he actually stress panting. That should change very soon! Thank you all for the pledges and donations. They're going to help so much with his vet care! Pledges can be honored on this post or his other post.
