We are at our limit this week... This week, we received a call from a vet clinic regarding a 3-year-old Boston Terrier mom and her 6 newborn puppies. Mom suffered from a retained placenta, which caused a massive infection in her uterus. She needed immediate emergency surgery to remove the infected uterus. Due to the massive inection, her red blood cells plummeted, requiring a blood transfusion before surgery to stabilize her condition. To make matters worse, her dire condition led to fluid overload, necessitating oxygen support to stabilize her further. Once she improved, she underwent surgery to remove her infected uterus. Since her surgery, she has been feeling much better and is eating well at the clinic, but she still isn't stable enough to come home. The fluid in her lungs has not yet been reabsorbed by her body, and she remains oxygen-dependent. The vet believes this is due to low protein levels from fighting the severe infection. She now requires a plasma transfusion to help raise her protein levels, with the hope of getting her off oxygen, out of the hospital, and into a forever home. This has come at an extremely significant cost to the rescue. Her current charges to date are $5,505.00. She is expected to be in the hospital for another 2-3 days of care, which will cost an additional $2,900.00. Her total cost by the time she is ready to leave the hospital will be approximately $8,400.00 to save her precious life. We are not going to lie; it was a REALLY hard decision to proceed with the plasma transfusion and additional days of care. Our funds are COMPLETELY depleted right now. With a staggering shelter overhead of over $20,000 a MONTH, we are really struggling. Donations have been at an all-time low, and this one case could close our rescue doors during the worst time we've ever seen. We know how incredible our village is, and we are hopeful we will be able to raise the much-needed funds for Momma Remy and the others in our care. We have been hit exceptionally hard with medical case after medical case. We currently have a litter of 8 puppies that fought bordetella and are now fighting ringworm. We have 4 dogs and 2 cats undergoing heartworm treatment, daily vetting needs, and spay and neuter surgeries every day. Our bills are mounting, and we did not receive a single donation check in the mail this week. This is as blunt as we can be: WE WILL NOT SURVIVE if we cannot raise the funds to cover this. Please, if you can, donate. If you cannot donate, please share our post. Our village is incredible, and we are so grateful for your support, always. 🫶 Ways to donate: 🐾 or message Wilson's Vet directly at 404-410-9833 for more details 🐾 PayPal: moforjames909@gmail.com 🐾 Zelle: moforjames55@gmail.com Please keep Momma Remy and her babies in your prayers.
