    Keep your North Bay garden looking great and recycle your e-waste

    Summer garden workshop

    What can you be doing in your garden now to keep it looking great well into autumn?

    A free hands-on workshop Saturday, July 20, will show gardeners how to extend the blooming time and health of their annuals, vegetables and roses.

    Led by the Sonoma County Master Gardeners, the class will also offer tips on weed eradication, identifying water stress in plants, tuning your irrigation system and controlling gophers and other pesky garden invaders with sustainable methods.

    The event is free and there will even be a free compost giveaway so bring a container. 10 a.m. to noon, Unity Demonstration Garden at Bounty Farm, 55 Shasta Ave., Petaluma.

    E-waste recycling event

    Zero Waste Sonoma has partnered with Conservation Corps North Bay to hold a free electronics recycling event this weekend, July 19-21.

    No appointment is necessary to drop off e-waste. The collection drive is being held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the parking lot of Lucchesi Park, 320 N. McDowell Blvd, Petaluma. They will accept working and non-working TVs, office equipment, cellphones, tablets, printers, computers, laptops, stereos, game consoles, cords and microwave ovens.     Fuchsia sale

    Infuse your garden with a bit of color with a new fuchsia.

    The Sebastopol Fuchsia Society is holding a sale July 27 featuring plants grown by its members. They will have both hanging baskets for gardens and decks and uprights in a variety of colors. 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until they run out of plants. Sebastopol Center for the Arts, 282 S. High St., Sebastopol.
