PETALUMA, Calif. ( KRON ) — Two North Bay communities have experienced a rash of car wheel thefts over the past week, according to advisories released Wednesday from the Petaluma Police Department and the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety.

Victims of the thefts reported to police that their tires and rims had been removed from their cars. On Sunday and Monday, Petaluma police received at least 10 reports of wheel thefts from vehicle owners on the east side of the city, authorities said. Rohnert Park DPS also said that it has received several reports between Sunday and Wednesday.

According to police, all the targeted vehicles currently have been 2014-2024 Toyota Camry and Corolla models as well as 2020-2024 Honda Civic and Accords. The theft victims told police that their vehicles were propped up onto concrete blocks while the wheels were stolen.

Both police departments are urging the communities to contact authorities if witnessing suspicious persons or activities in their neighborhoods late at night. "When calling the PPD, obtaining a description of the subject(s) and a direction for travel is helpful," Petaluma police said. "If you see a suspicious vehicle, please also get a description and directions for travel when reporting."

Additional victims or witnesses to the thefts who have information are asked to call the Petaluma Police Department at (707)-778-4373 or Rohnert Park DPS at (707)-584-2600.
