PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) — The City of Petersburg Public Utilities is notifying residents about the activities that will take place in neighborhoods as part of a water service line inventory project.

According to a post on the City of Petersburg’s official Facebook, contractors working for the city will be locating residents’ water lines by excavation as part of a water service line inventory project set to begin on Monday, June 17.

The City of Petersburg will be collecting water service line material information during the excavation.

Excavation will be minimal and limited to the immediate vicinity of the water service line to the resident’s home. However, the City of Petersburg’s contractors may need to walk on residents’ properties to gain access to water service boxes that are at or near the property line.

According to the City, access to residents’ homes is not required, and all City of Petersburg personnel and contractors are required to carry identification badges.

All work is expected to be conducted on weekdays during business hours.

The City of Petersburg will work closely with the residents and regulatory agencies to deliver a high-quality project, while minimizing disruptions to residents and the environment.
