CROSS VILLAGE — A two-car accident on Saturday left six people injured near the Blissfest grounds, according to a press release from the Emmet County Sheriff's Office.

At approximately 6:23 p.m. on July 13, the Emmet County Sheriff's Office responded to an accident at the intersection of State and Division roads in Cross Village Township. The intersection is about two and a half miles away from the Blissfest grounds, where the annual summer music festival was taking place.

John Keller, 56, of Harbor Springs was driving northbound on State Road when his vehicle was struck on the passenger side by a vehicle traveling westbound on Division Road. Justin Matzka, 42, of Petoskey was driving westbound and failed to stop at a stop sign. Keller was driving a 2012 Nissan and Matzka was driving a 2016 Buick.

Six people — both drivers and their passengers — were injured in the accident and transported to McLaren Northern Michigan hospital in Petoskey.

The intersection was closed for around four hours while the accident scene was processed.
