GAYLORD — The Otsego County Commission on Aging recently was awarded a $4,500 grant through the Otsego Community Foundation Grant Program.

The grant will help with the continued expansion of OCCOA Big North Boomers, a popular functional fitness program that the agency sponsors in partnership with Big North Barbell of Gaylord.

“The program is designed to improve the quality of life and promote the healthy aging of the community’s older adults by focusing on movements and exercises that correlate directly with real-life daily movements. Its three-fold purpose is to educate the mind, exercise the body and provide self-awareness and socialization," said OCCOA Healthy Aging Program Coordinator Charlie May in a statement.

For more information about OCCOA Big North Boomers, contact OCCOA at (989) 732-1122, or visit the organization's website .
