As a pet owner, I feel like I am constantly keeping on top of hair in my house despite having a Shark vacuum with pet features. It’s one of the best vacuums for pet hair , but I wouldn’t be without this simple pet hair removal tool when it comes to the carpet.

I first came across this hair scraping tool a few years ago on Facebook, but wasn’t sold until I read the comments – all the pet owners were raving about it. It was less than $10, so I didn’t think it would be life changing, but I had high hopes.

I have a cat and a house rabbit who both have very soft hair, which is a nightmare for getting out of the carpet – although I didn’t realise how bad things really were until my tool arrived and I got scraping. I’m now convinced they leave behind as much behind as a German Shepherd.

Of course, my tiny tool wouldn’t be practical to use on a fully carpeted room, but I find it invaluable for the stairs, the small landing area, and the rug in my living room. While there are a few different designs, one thing they’ve got in common is that they’re all simple. The power-free design means it’s never going to let you down, and it can be reused time and time again, offering the perfect solution.

The ‘scrapping’ makes it sound like a harsh tool, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it didn’t damage the carpet fibres and was not sharp to touch.

I thought my carpets were pretty clean – I hoovered regularly after all – but I was shocked and, therefore, I really do recommend giving one of these tools a go.
