PHENIX CITY, Ga. ( WRBL ) — In celebration of the Fourth of July, Silverada makes its Phenix City debut with it’s new name.

The band formerly known as “Mike and the Moonpies” takes the stage at 8:45 p.m. as part of a free Fourth of July celebration held at the Phenix City Amphitheater.

“It’s been a little over a year since we last played here. We have a brand-new name and a brand-new album,” said Silverada frontman Mike Harmeier.

Doors for the event open 4 p.m., with food trucks and beverages available onsite. Concert openers include Alabama band Them Dirty Roses and singer Taylor Hunnicutt.

Harmeier said the band’s new name marks a new chapter they are excited to share.

“There’s a lot of things going on with us creatively and in the show that I think are very exciting … It’s a high energy show with brand new stuff and a brand-new dynamic,” Harmeier said. “We’re just excited to bring it here to Phenix City, especially on the Fourth of July weekend.”

The Independence Day event in Phenix City will close out with a fireworks display, after which Silverada will hit the road to Nashville.

Tomorrow, the band will celebrate the release of it’s all new self-titled album with their first ever headlining show at the Ryman Auditorium.
