HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — While Independence Day brings joy and celebration for many, the booms and pops in the sky and on the ground often stress pets. "Fireworks can cause significant anxiety for animals,” said Virgie Graham, Interim Director of Huntsville Animal Services. “The loud noises and unexpected flashes of light can disrupt their sense of safety and security.”

A Good Samaritan raced to save a “terrified” puppy being pulled into a Crossville, Alabama creek by a snapping turtle. According to 2nd Chance Shelter, the incident occurred on July 1 when a group of people heard “horrific cries” in the backyard of a home. The screams led the people to the horrible scene as a puppy was being dragged into the creek by the snapping turtle.
