Local Philadelphians Bring The Brass Tap to Manayunk

The Brass Tap, a Tampa-based craft beer bar and entertainment venue of nearly 50 bars in 16 states is continuing its expansion with Danielle and Izak Du Plooy opening a new Brass Tap located at 177 Markle Street, on February 12th.

Danielle and Izak Du Plooy love Philadelphia, and they love entertaining. Having been part of the city’s social scene for some time, the pair are now introducing their own business where locals and visitors can gather and enjoy food and drinks: The Brass Tap. Because Philadelphia has such a unique food culture, Danielle and Izak didn’t want to bring just anything to the market. They decided to open The Brass Tap because it gave them the opportunity to create a customizable experience and the potential to host exciting events the whole community can enjoy.

Something that really stood out to us was that The Brass Tap caters the menu to the local area,” said Danielle Du Plooy in a statement. “We brought special Philadelphia ideas that we can incorporate to attract locals and The Brass Tap was supportive.”

The Du Plooys hope to build a community around The Brass Tap in Manayunk and be the go to place for sporting events. The brand currently has nearly 50 locations opened in 16 U.S. states. The Manayunk location is the first in the Philadelphia area.

“We are fortunate to be growing quickly with operators like The Du Plooys,” said The Brass Tap’s CMO, Heather Boggs. “We are excited to continue to enter the Philadelphia market and look forward to expanding in the state.”

With system-wide growth on the docket for next year, The Brass Tap is seeing notable activity in Dallas, Texas; the Washington and Baltimore areas; and Southern California. There are currently a total of 23 Brass Tap openings scheduled for this year.
