A South Philly ice cream institution is preparing to spread its signature brand of cool sweetness to a second location later this year. Milk Jawn will begin serving scoops of its delicious frozen treats in Northern Liberties this summer, reports The Philadelphia Inquirer .

The innovative ice cream company has signed a lease for 946 North Second Street. Milk Jawn founder Amy Wilson spoke with What Now Philadelphia about introducing the unique brand to Northern Liberties.

“We were looking for a bustling neighborhood with a mix of residential, great restaurants, and nightlife, similar to East Passyunk.” Wilson states, adding “Northern Liberties was the perfect match!”

Wilson explains that she and her team had always intended to open a second location, and “When the perfect space suddenly came available, we decided to go for it.

Milk Jawn aims to inject some sweetness into its customers’ lives, both through its delicious treats and its friendly and helpful customer service. Wilson explains: “Our East Passyunk shop is a welcoming place with a down-to-earth, neighborhood vibe. We try to personalize the experience for each guest by offering samples, walking them through our menu, and helping them pick the perfect flavor. We want to take them on a taste adventure and create a memorable visit!”

The Northern Liberties Milk Jawn will share the same hours and menu as the South Philly location, however the new eatery will be able to greet a greater swath of guests. Wilson states “We’re excited that the Northern Liberties location will have a ramp for wheelchair and stroller access.”

Wilson offers some guidance for future regulars eager to sample a scoop of Milk Jawn’s finest but unsure where to start: “We’d highly recommend trying either the Milk & Cookies, Lemon Curd with Blueberry Basil Swirl, Malted Milk Toffee Crunch, or Earl Grey with Honeycomb.” she states. “They’re our most popular flavors!”

Milk Jawn has just signed the lease for the new location and anticipates construction starting in April or May. Wilson hopes to begin serving guests in June.

Wilson and the Milk Jawn team hope to bring a little joy to the Northern Liberties community, one delicious scoop at a time. Wilson states “Ice cream has the ability to totally transform someone’s day and we totally understand that power.”
