DeCamara, Seltzer rip new Phillies' 2023 wildcard flag: 'Gimmicky, lame'

The Philadelphia Phillies have controversially added their first ever wildcard flag, a powder blue pennant hanging in the outfield at Citizens Bank Park for the team's 2023 run.

The Phillies blew a 3-2 series lead in the 2023 NLCS to the Diamondbacks and did not win the division or the National League pennant, causing some to be confused on why a flag has been raised at all.

"We don't need a stupid little banner for making the playoffs. I hate it, Joe," James Seltzer said.

"I agree," Joe DeCamara said. "I think it should absolutely be no banner...It's too gimmicky. It's lame. It cheapens it."

"You collapsed in that series, it was awful," said Rhea Hughes. "No one wants to be reminded of it."

The new flag caused quite a bit of a stir on social media before Friday's home opener at Citizens Bank Park.
