Jack Fritz believes the worry and criticism surrounding the Phillies after just six games is over the top, and he wonders why people do not trust the Phillies.

"I am just here to say this—calm down about the Phillies," Fritz said at the top of Thursday's 94WIP Afternoon Show with Ike Reese. "Everyone has to calm down about this team. If they were 2-4 in the middle of June and this happened, no one would care. I know there is a heightened sense of awareness because it's early in the season...and I appreciate [everyone] paying attention. But again, it's six freakin' games into the season.

"And what I sense, Ike, is people don't really trust this team," Fritz continued. "And I don't get why. Like, when are we going to learn to trust the baseball team? They have one of the best managers in the sport, they start slow every single year and they are a veteran team that has won a lot of ballgames in the last two seasons. Someone has to say it and I'm here to say, calm down and trust this team."

The Phillies are off to a sluggish 2-4 start after talking about the importance of a strong start through Spring Training.

As a team, the Phils are hitting just .223, which ranks 20th in Major League Baseball. Their .305 on-base percentage is 19th and their .355 slugging percentage is also 19th.

Individually, Nick Castellanos is just 3-20 (.150) and Trea Turner is just 5-23 (.217). Johan Rojas is an abysmal 1-15 (.067).

"I don't see any signs of the offense coming around," Phillies radio announcer Larry Andersen said on the 94WIP postgame show on Wednesday night following the team's 4-1 series loss to the Reds.

"Obviously Harper had the three home runs last night, Schwarber has hit a couple line drive home runs. But outside of that, I mean nobody—the bats don't even look good."
