The Philadelphia Eagles and left tackle Jordan Mailata have agreed to a massive three-year contract extension through the 2028 season.

The new deal would pay Mailata $66 million with $48 million of that guaranteed and a $20 million signing bonus.

Mailata was a seventh-round pick in the 2018 draft after never playing a down of organized football. The Australia native has been the Eagles starting left tackle since 2020, starting 57 games over the past four seasons.

"That's a good move by the Eagles,' Ike Reese said. "I mean, listen, he's young. He's hitting the prime of his career right now. Your left tackle you don't have to worry about it anymore. He certainly has a great rapport over there with Landon Dickerson and those guys blocking together both of those guys now are locked up for the next 4 to 5 years."

Dickerson signed his own contract extension earlier in the offseason, becoming the NFL's highest-paid guard with a four-year, $84 million deal.

Eliot Shorr-Parks also thinks locking up Mailata is a smart move for the Birds, saying as much on X :

"Mailata was the 6th best offensive tackle in the NFL in pass protection, per PFF," he wrote. "At his best he has shown to be one of the best OTs in the NFL. Has been slightly inconsistent over the last two seasons but is without question a great player."

With the new contract, the Eagles now have both of their tackles signed for the next few seasons with Lane Johnson under contract through 2027.
