When it comes to the defensive line it really doesn't matter if the Eagles have a need—Howie is always going to lean towards the position in the draft. The last three first-round picks he has made, has been on the d-line. The need for 2024 isn't that strong, with five EDGE rushers already slated for snaps, but it is potentially a huge need in 2025, and drafting an EDGE to develop now could be smart.

2024 Eagles NFL Draft Preview: Cornerback

Dallas Turner, Alabama: His combination of skill, athleticism, age and production makes him the best EDGE in the draft. Great athlete, impressive bend, impressive first step. 11 sacks last year, 33 hurries. Closest thing to an elite prospect in the draft at EDGE.

Jared Verse, Florida State: Power player that wins with strength and effort while also having a quick first step. Has a decent set of pass-rush moves. Has 20 stacks the last 2 years. On the older side of the EDGE class at 23 years old.

Laiatu Latu, UCLA: There are things to really like about Latu and things to be very concerned about. The positive is he comes to the NFL with tons of pass rush moves and 27 sacks last two seasons. The downside? He is already 23 years old, is only an OK athlete with an OK first step, and had a serious neck injury in 2021.

Chop Robinson, Penn State: Probably the best athlete among the top EDGE prospects. An elite athlete but very raw. Explodes with his first step, but doesn't have many pass rush moves. Not good against run. Only 3 sacks last season. But at 21 years old, could be the perfect fit for the Eagles to develop.

Chris Braswell, Alabama: Good first step and good use of hands. Strong. Can win with speed or bull rush. 13 sacks last year. 22 years old. A good prospect but maybe not special upside.

Jonah Ellis, Utah: My favorite EDGE prospect in the drat. Only 20 years old with 13 sacks last year and a good set of pass rush moves. Good bend/first step. Not good length but a ton of upside.

Darius Robinson, Missouri: Wins with power. Not that fast but very long. Can play both DT and EDGE. Not great bend. 9 sacks. Versatility is nice

Bralen Trice, Washington: 23-years old. Lots of pressure (53 hurries last year), not lots of sacks (9). Plays fast. Fast first step. Physical mentality. Arm length is an issue.

Marshawn Kneeland, Western Michigan: Played against bad competition. Bullied them with power and a quick first step. Not any pass rush moves. 6 sacks.

Adisa Isaac, Penn State: Good against the run and decent pass rusher with great hands. Not a great athlete but 9 sacks last season is noteworthy.

Gabriel Murphy, UCLA: Undersized at 230 pounds but is very quick and has good pass rush moves. Is very much a stand up LB/EDGE. 40 hurries last year, but size is def a concern against bigger OTs.
