The Eagles do not have a pressing need at tight end. Dallas Goedert is one of the best tight ends in the NFL and perfect for the Eagles offense. Where they need help is at backup TE, even with yesterday's addition of veteran C.J. Uzomah . The good news is there are a few elite athletes in this draft at TE that could turn into great pass-catching options behind Goedert.

2024 Eagles NFL Draft Preview: Safeties

Brock Bowers, Georgia: Bowers is a special tight end prospect but I do not think the Eagles should draft him, even if he does fall to No. 22 (he won't). If the Eagles didn't have Goedert then Bowers would be a good fit, but using a top pick on Bowers would be a waste of a big resource.

Ja’Tavion Sanders, Texas: Sanders is a potentially interesting option for the Eagles in the second round. Above-average speed. Has NFL size for TE. Outstanding hands (zero drops last year). Like a WR. Only 1 less 20+ yard catch than Brock Bowers. Very good after the catch. Needs help as a route runner. Only an OK blocker.

Theo Johnson, Penn State: Now we are at the beginning of the prospects the Eagles could actually take. Johnson has great size at 6-6. Great at contested catches or going up for 50/50 balls. Only an OK route runner. More of an athletic prospect than ready to play in NFL. Needs coaching.

Jared Wiley, TCU: One of my favorite tight end prospects in the draft. Great size and length, which shows in a large catch radius. Very good speed. 81-yard TD in college. Great in RZ (5 RZ TDs last year, best in FBS). More of a 50/50 ball winner than a route-runner to get open.

Cade Stover, Ohio State: Former linebacker turned tight end with below average size and athleticism. Good at contested catches. On the older side at 24-years old. Not a ton of special upside.

Ben Sinnott, Kansas State: Creates separation with his route running. Can be a big-play asset in the passing game. Good at adjusting to bad throws and catching the ball in traffic. Doesn’t have ideal TE body for the NFL. Might not have big upside.

Tanner McLachlan, Arizona : Great size and length. Doesn’t have great speed. Good hands and can make people miss after the catch. Needs work as a route runner. Already 25-years old.

Berwyn Spann-Ford, Minnesota: Stands 6-6 with long arms. Huge catch radius. Excellent at winning contested catches and tracking the ball. Drops were an issue. Already 24-years old.
