The Philadelphia Eagles have announced they have agreed to a three-year contract extension with wide receiver DeVonta Smith , reportedly worth $75 million with $51 million guaranteed, per Ian Rapoport .

The Eagles have picked up Smith's 2025 $15.59 million fifth-year option and added three more years onto his deal, keeping him in Philadelphia through 2028. Smith will earn about $91 million over the next five seasons.

Smith, 25, was the Eagles' 10th overall pick in 2021. In three NFL seasons, Smith has (rec/yards/TDs):

    2021: 64/916/5
    2022: 95/1,196/7
    2023: 81/1,066/7

Here are Eliot Shorr Parks' six thoughts on the extension:

    1. A smart, easy move. DeVonta is an elite receiver and an important culture player.

    2. Worrying about the money is overthinking it. You pay elite players. Especially home grown ones.

    3. Good thing DeVonta gets paid before next season. Now all the skill players (AJ, Smith, Saquon, Dallas) are paid. Very important. Touches don’t matter as much when players are paid.

    4. He was never going anywhere. The Eagles were always going to pay him.

    5. Paying both AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith is the right move. It’s always a huge investment into the passing game by Lurie and Howie.

    6. This wouldn’t stop me from drafting a WR at 22
