Daryl Morey asked Sam Hinkie to ring the bell

Daryl Morey asked Sam Hinkie to re-engage with Philadelphia 76ers fans and ring the bell at one of the games.

"I talked to him today and I told him you guys rang the bell and he was all happy about that," Morey said around the 36:00 mark the latest episode of The Rights To Ricky Sanchez with 94WIP Afternoon Show Spike Eskin and Michael Levin.

"And I was like, 'You can ring the bell!' And he was like, 'Oh, no, no.' I was like you should re-engage. To his credit, he rode off into the sunset. I asked him has Detroit called. Do teams like reach out to look for options and he's like, 'I'm out in the wilderness.'"

Morey, the current president of the 76ers, is close with Hinkie, the man who was hired by the franchise in May of 2013 and infamously began "The Process."

Now, 11 years later, the Sixers continue their trek trying to get past the second-round of the playoffs under the leadership of Joel Embiid. They host the Miami Heat in tonight's play-in game, with the winner earning the No. 7 seed and a first-round series against the New York Knicks.

Morey admitted he prefers the path of facing the Knicks in round one rather than the Boston Celtics, who he says are playing as good as any team since the Golden State Warriors in their hay day.
